The Castle
The cottage is situated directly on the edge of Llansteffan beach, under the watchful eye of the historical Llansteffan castle - a wooden castle which was built at the end of the 11th century on the site of the impressive late bronze age hill fort. The Normans replaced this wooden castle for a stone built one, which was substantially extended in the 13th century. The castle affords stunning views across the estuary to the Gower and beyond. The sandy beach stretches the length of the village and around the corner to Scotts Bay.
Scotts Bay
The cottage is ideally positioned to enjoy both beach and countryside. Just a short walk along the coastal path will bring you to the beautiful secluded, award winning beach Scotts Bay, named after the family of Captain John James Scott, who occupied St.Anthony's Cottage from 1862 until the 1950's.
The house is named after the nearby St.Anthony's well, a holy well deemed to have healing properties. Taking the country path in the far corner of Scotts Bay will take you around the back of the castle and back to Llansteffan village.
